Wow thank and ...Welcome!
You know, I was a big time sleep walking sheep-person 8 years ago. I've come to the realization that non of us should be ashamed of that. The massive media and public school brainwashing is so thick that its a rare person that is able to escape it. I lurked at Daily Paul for a good year before I signed up so I'm glad you signed up here :o)

that's true
It is bigger than any of us. That was always the beauty of Daily Paul. It was fueled by the people and their points of view rather than one particular person

New Member Here
Posted the following in the wrong discussion forum. So, here it is again.
I was never a member of PL or the DP but I found myself coming back to the PL site more and more. So much so, that it actually became rather addictive once my eyes were finally opened about the reality of the political system we live under. I say this as a very long time Republican who was totally buying into the BS for years and years. So, I want to say that if "I" can wake up, then I know there is reason for hope. Also, Thimbleberry, thank you very much for this site and your hard work. I look forward to coming here again and again and further feeding my (good) addiction.

Look forward to following this

Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

If ever I should not want to do this anymore
for any reason at all, I would pass it on to someone else to take care of. People put so much work into a site and there is so much history and knowledge within its pages that its heartbreaking when it is lost.
So barring some catastrophic apocalyptic nuclear war, I'll keep it going.

After 4 1/2 years at DP/PL
I was blocked from my account for reasons I still don't understand. I complained about Nystrom shutting down the site and him either not selling it or allowing someone else to run it. I felt like liberty was too important to risk scattering the users. Of course, I did (and still do!) recognize it's his right to do what he wishes as it is his site.
However, if it were my site, I'd still either sell or let someone else run it (even if I didn't want to) because the whole thing is "bigger than me".
A user there said "quit complaining and think about the positives. It will open up opportunities for other sites to come up". My feeling is that there was hardly saturation in the market and there's room for plenty more liberty sites. I sarcastically said "would it be better if Ron Paul stopped speaking out for liberty because it would open up room for others to speak out in his place?" I pointed out that it was the fallacy of the broken window to think like that. Then I was blocked. I still stand by my opinions though and I hope I wouldn't be blocked on ACTP for saying something like that.
As Dr Paul said, we don't have freedom of speech to talk about the weather.
