The publisher of Newsweek and the International Business Times has been engaging in fraudulent online traffic practices that helped it secure a major ad buy from a US government agency, according to a new report released today by independent ad fraud researchers.

Two students were shot in a classroom in Salvador Castro Middle School in Westlake on Thursday morning, and one is in critical condition, authorities said.

Police received a report of shots fired about 8:55 a.m. in the 1500 block of West 2nd Street, according to LAPD Officer Drake Madison.

The victims were described as a 15-year-old male, who is in critical condition, and a 15-year-old female, who was reported in fair condition.

Acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Thomas Homan partly blamed the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals for the recent increase in illegal immigration, arguing the court’s decisions have created a legal environment friendly to foreign aliens.

Homan told the Washington Examiner Wednesday that the 9th Circuit’s decisions incentivize illegal crossings, suggesting immigrants know they will receive favorable treatment in its jurisdiction.

A missile defense test conducted over Hawaii failed Wednesday, U.S. officials have confirmed.

In a statement issued Thursday, the U.S. Missile Defense Agency stated that an interceptor launched from the Pacific Missile Range Facility at Kauai, Hawaii, was unsuccessful in taking out its target.

“The primary objective of the test was to intercept an air-launched intermediate-range ballistic missile target,” the statement said. “However, this objective was not accomplished.”

“Our intelligence community has the authority to listen to every phone call.”
