Cinco de Mayo IS NOT Mexican Independence Day. That is September 16th. Cinco de Mayo is not much celebrated in Mexico. It is really only celebrated in in the Mexican state of Puebla. Cinco de Mayo (May 5th) is the date of a famous battle that took place in Puebla against the invading French under Louis Napoleon. The Mexican though out numbered, out gunned, and just a rag tap army of farmers won the battle against the best equipped army of the time. The battle is a Mexican "Bunker Hill." So why is it celebrated in the USA and no so much in Mexico? Most hispanics have no idea. But it is a good excuse for Mexican restaurants to promote going out to eat at Mexican restaurants. I agree with the author of this video, celebrate the day but that is no reason for it to be celebrated in the White House or the federal government to spend tax payers' money for the celebration.

I would have enjoyed the video better if the profanity had been left out.
