Presidential Election Gets More Entertaining All the Time

Today the electoral college formally voted Trump into office. There was quite a bit of talk about defectors and pleas and threats aimed at the electors to change their vote to Clinton. Some electors alluded earlier that they would not vote for Trump even though they were assigned to Trump by their constituents. So now that the vote is in, what do you think happened?

1. Four electors defected or attempted to defect from the Clinton side.
2. Two electors defected from the Trump side.
3. The net result was 1 electoral vote for Faith Spotted Eagle, the Yankton Dakota anti-pipeline activist. 3 electoral votes for Colin Powell and 1 electoral vote for Ron Paul!

Top that! RP got more electoral votes this election than in 2012! I'm still laughing about it. That's one more electoral vote than LINOs Johnson/Weld! I'm loving the electoral college more and more. Some of the electors did take all the Clinton supporters' "vote your conscience" signs to heart, but that didn't result in more votes for their beloved candidate. Too funny!

This country is very divided over this election and the reason for that is the two shitty leading candidates. If we had had two reasonably electable candidates--say Colin Powell or even Elizabeth Warren for the democratic side and Rand Paul or John Kasich on the Republican side, the country wouldn't be nearly as divided. Clinton supporters didn't like Clinton (generally speaking). They absolutely hated and feared Trump. They pressed for their absolutely awful candidate out of fear and hatred of Trump. Likewise, many of Trumps supporters don't like Trump but hate and fear Clinton. The result is an extremely polarized electorate--one side relieved and grateful that the hated Clinton didn't get in, the other desperately unhappy because Trump got in.

Personally, I fear and hate Trump and Clinton both; with a slight nod to Trump (but only slight). However, the entertainment value has been priceless. I know we have Trump supporters on this board (one of them very prolific) and I have been tempted to point out the many problems with his cabinet choices, the many problems with his economic plan, the many problems with his character but I know that buyers remorse will set in soon enough as soon as he takes office, so there's no point. I will enjoy this short time of fear and hope before Trump takes office and continue to be amazed at how this very entertaining election progresses.
