In my city, Driggs, ID, the city council recently voted against a measure that would return BLM land to State control. Why? The council feared that if Idaho owned the land, the State would sell it to private interests to generate revenue, thereby ruining the land for recreation. Idaho does have that reputation. Since most businesses in the area depend on tourists that come here to fish, hike, ski, snowmobile, etc. they felt the land would be better protected for public use in BLM hands than in Idaho's hands.
