AVA, Mo. (KSPR) - The Douglas County Sheriff says one of his deputies is accused of drinking and driving while crashing a patrol car.

The Missouri Highway Patrol arrested Jesse Lafferty, 30, Friday morning after troopers say his car ran off the road at Route K and Highway 14. The sheriff says he was let go from the sheriff's department. It crashed into multiple trees.

He faces possible charges of DWI and careless driving. The Douglas County sheriff says Lafferty had just started as a full time deputy, after working for a couple of years as a reserve.
