Keep this Libertarian thread!

Gary Johnson seems to be more of a left-leaning Libertarian, if one can call him a Libertarian, with strong statist tendencies. His statist tendencies showed up most clearly when he spoke on restricting our First and Second Amendment rights. In particular, his stand on government mandates *requiring* private businesses to serve same-sex couples, and his stand on psychiatric evaluations for maintaining the ownership of a firearm were rightly decried by both Petersen and McAfee. I actually watched the whole debate *twice*, and some parts more than that, to ensure I was hearing him correctly. This telling quote was reported by Fox News:

“I think that if you discriminate on the basis of religion, I think that is a black hole,” Johnson said. “I think you should be able to discriminate for stink or you’re not wearing shoes or whatever. If we discriminate on the basis of religion, to me, that’s doing harm to a big class of people.”

When Austin Petersen, one of Johnson’s opponents in the forum, asked the former governor if a Jewish baker should be required to bake a Nazi wedding cake, he said: “That would be my contention, yes."
