Felony Friday Podcast Ep. 005: Jeffrey Tucker Challenges Drinking Age Laws

Jao171 Fri, 02/05/2016 - 17:59

On today’s episode of the Felony Friday Podcast, host John Odermatt is joined by the founder of Liberty.me, Jeffrey Tucker.

This isn’t Jeffrey’s first time on the Lions of Liberty Podcast. A little over two years ago Jeffrey was interviewed by host Marc Clair. It was a wide ranging interview that touched on many areas Jeffrey is passionate about. However, today’s interview focuses solely on the injustice of drinking age laws.

Here’s what we talked about:

- Jeffrey’s recent article titled: “Finally, Some Drinking-Age Progress

- Proposed legislation in New Hampshire, Minnesota and California that would, to varying degrees, lower the drinking age to 18-years-old.

- Would lowering the drinking age lead to more responsible drinking? Do other government interventions, such as federal subsidized student loans, promote the infantilization of college students, thus creating an environment where reckless behavior thrives?

Jeffrey Tucker is a treasure.  Anyone that understands economics is OK in my book.  The way he explains drinking laws is perfect.  When I turned 18 my father said  " if you can die for your country,  you can have a beer ". It was a proud moment in my life,  my father and I shared a 12 pack of beer.  Then we drove to the store and bought a case.  I felt like I had been accepted into adulthood.  Then we built a fire,  drank those beers,  and had a great time.  I miss that feeling.  Then I grew up and realized that big government is WRONG!   How many people have been robbed of those experiences?  I can only imagine.
