I wanted to provide the links below in order to applaud Rand for making such statements against the mainstream media. I feel his stance on not being relegated to a second-tier debate with so little time before the primaries/caucuses is one of the smartest moves he's possibly suggested thus far. I cannot imagine a better way of telling the media to 'go to hell' than by calling them out for the conflict of interest in using their own polls to determine the legitimacy and 'tier-level' of any candidate's campaign so close to the actual votes taking place.

I truly hope Rand sticks to his stance on this and let's the media know that he will not be told by them or anyone that he is finished. The voters should determine the legitimacy and influence of any campaign, not the media.

The only issue I see is, I remember Ron Paul filling 7,500 - 10,000 people in CA inside a tennis arena at UCLA.  http://mic.com/articles/6513/ron-paul-draws-record-breaking-crowd-at-ucl... and also filling up a stadium in Tampa, FL. That was years ago and not many people heard about it.

Bernie Sanders is another that has recently been filling up arenas and not many people know about him. And though these are "thousands" of people, it still pales in comparison to the "millions" of debate viewers.

The plus side is that independent viewership IS growing and more and more people are becoming aware. Factor that in with Rand FINALLY calling out the msm & the polls as manipulative and worthless gauges (on their own shows), it might just work. But at this early point in the game, I just don't see Rand getting 10,000 or even 1,000 people to show up.

I still like your idea though!

I STILL STAND WITH RAND!

To skip either debate, and call a town hall meeting in Iowa and New Hampshire. But the opportunity to get the message out may be worth being in the debate regardless.
