A New Liberty Community in Chile

bcorbyn Wed, 01/13/2016 - 06:47

I am new to this forum, but my father held an account at DailyPaul/Popular Liberty for eight years and we were both heavily active in the 2008 Ron Paul campaign.  Our family (and some extended family) of seven people and six dogs moved to Chile in the summer of 2015 in search of a more stable country with better financial security and personal freedom.  Within three months of making the decision to move, we had found and moved into our new Chilean home permanently. Our full story of our move can be found here: http://www.fourflagsjournal.com/valdivia/ While my father still stays active in the liberty community, I have started a relocation company (www.consultchile.com) to help people leave the U.S (or other countries) and move to Chile for whatever reason it may be (liberty, financial security, stable country, or just a change of scenery).  In my dealings with relocation work, I have come across a new, developing liberty community that is headed in the right direction. I thought I would share some information on it, because not only are the founders of the community liberty minded people, they were heavily involved in the Ron Paul campaigns.

This new real estate development is called Fort Galt (not to be confused with Galts Gultch) and is located in the beautiful area of Curinanco, approximately 30 minutes west of Valdivia.  This community is being started by a team of highly energetic, intelligent, entrepreneurs that have big plans for a successful libertarian community, the I had the opportunity to meet in person.  Fort Galt has a unique design in that it has one main, shared building with suites of different sizes and price ranges to suit a wide range of budgets and it also has additional lots of land for sale if you want to build something on your own.  Currently the empty lots of land have water, overhead lighting, and power lines.  Members who join the community will be entitled to a suite/apartment as well as use of the common amenities. Currently there are two different roads to access Curinanco, one which is fully paved and follows the coast line and one that is currently being paved that is a shorter, in-land route. There is a bus that makes a frequent route from Curinanco to Niebla or Valdivia for approximately two US dollars.  Curinanco only has a few restaurants, but it is located near Valdivia, which is the Capital of the Los Rios Region in southern Chile, and is very close to Niebla. Niebla has quite a few small stores that sell grocery/household items, fire department, schools, and many restaurants that cater towards tourists.  In addition to these two towns, you are also close to Corral, Chile.  Corral is a small town with a growing tourism population.

More information on Fort Galt can be found on their website: http://www.fortgalt.com/

I'm heading to Argentina and Chile very soon to check out the scene.  Argentina for research and Chile to see if I could actually live there. I have bookmarked your website!

Your website is wonderful!  Love it.

I have a question about the map at http://www.fortgalt.com/land.htm

It says Size (m2). Does that mean square meters?  For instance, lot 2 says that it is 8.7 (m2) for 144,186,250  (CLP)   It seems that (m2) means something else.

Please let me know.

Thank you!

The lots are measured in meters squared (m2) which is a larger area than square meters.  It is very common for parcels of land in Chile to be measured in meters squared.

Hope that answers your question!

Firstly, thank you very much for the reply Bcorbyn.  I don't really understand. I did google this but can't find a good answer.  Can you tell me the rough equivalent in feet?   How large is the entire FORT GALT?  I'm asking because I am quite interested in this project of yours.

Hi Rachel

The Fort Galt is not my project, I just visited the project. But, the entire property is 100 acres and a lot that is 8,000 m2 comes out to over an acre.

I'm very interested in talking with you about moving to Chile.  You will most likely hear from me when I'm there or when I get back.  Thanks for the reply.  I really do appreciate it.  :-D

I too made the leap to come to Chile. I have never looked back! I have enjoyed reading some of your articles on four flags as well as others. Thanks for the post.

I've been pipe-dreaming about this for a while, and its very interesting for me to read about people who've already made the leap.    Thanks for sharing!
