The name of this site

Liberty Pastor Sun, 12/20/2015 - 02:48

With a grander view of time, I would like to suggest changing the name of the site to "Call To Liberty" (if available, if not, something similar). This would enable this site to continue no matter what happens to Ron or Rand Paul. If it is tied to a name, it will of necessity die a death like the Daily Paul and now Popular Liberty is experiencing. Liberty will ALWAYS be important and valid, A member of the Paul family may not. Things change and people change, but liberty never changes!

What is the category of this post? (choose up to 2):

we are what made the site great, and this site will be great too.

I don't use FB and I wouldn't want to promote it (though I totally understand having to use stuff like that against itself).

It has a rhyme and ring to it. I think the image of the Paul Revere Statue on the home page ties a relationship to the name "Paul" very well. :)

"Jack of all Trades...Master of None" But forever learning more!

I didn't even notice the statue, but you are right, that's a great tie to him. I didn't mean to criticize the name, it certainly has a ring to it. I just think anyone who doesn't only support rand is going to have a hard time getting past the Paul being in the name, you know what I mean?

I think all should feel welcome.  Hopefully the tone of the posts will convey that its not about conforming to one candidate or another.

I do agree with the OP, the name shouldn't be associated with any 1 candidate. I think it is wise to support rand in the websites banner, but I wouldn't name the site after him. It is just a name, so whatever is fine with me. I'm happy to have a place I can feel normal in, so thank you.

here Ron is a modern Founding Father, the Thomas Jefferson of our day, and as such, I hope the site continues to bear his name.  The Daily Paul had a history, and I hope we can carry that on.

Liberty brings people together - Ron Paul

Liberty Pastor's picture

your closing quote from Ron Paul proves my point:  (this was supposed to be in reply to Debbie)

"Liberty brings people together." Ron Paul

I think he also said, "Everyone wants freedom."

Many people have never heard of Ron Paul (thanks to the MSM) who will start learning about Liberty. A site with the name, A Call to Liberty will draw more people than a site called, A Call to Paul.

But hey, I like this anyway. I certainly want to prolong the influence and name of Ron Paul, I just thought we were wanting something that would attract more people to the principles of liberty.

Maybe this will motivate someone else to start a liberty forum with the proposed name.

It won't hurt to have a bunch of good liberty sites... brush fires of liberty!

Thanks for all the HARD work in getting this up and going so quickly!

I'm glad to be here.

I like the name. I'm only saying this site will be looked upon as a Rand Paul website and if his candidacy doesn't win I fear this site will share the same fate of the DP. I'm not trying to be confrontational, just my 2 cents

I view Ron Paul as the Thomas Jefferson of our day, so, I don't think the name will ever go out of style, however, I understand why others think a call to liberty is more appropriate.  Whatever is fine.

"Ron Paul... the Thomas Jefferson of our day"!!!!

Ron Paul is a modern day founding father.  But also, as this is a communication site geared toward spreading the ideas of liberty and freedom and trying to remind people what that means, I see it as we all are modern day Paul Revere's, waking everyone from their slumber and Calling everyone "To Arms".

In the end, whether people think it represents Ron Paul, Rand Paul, Paul Revere, John Paul Jones, or Paul Simon  is not something I can control or want to.  But to me, it instantly makes me think of the work and message of a modern movement of liberty.

I don't think Ron Paul goes out of style.  He's an icon and it's all about what he represents.

Thanks for setting this up.

I admire both Pauls greatly.  But Call to Liberty would be a great name.

the doublespeak. I'm fine with it. I just have a habit of always trying to make improvements.

Speaking of which, in the paragraph below the picture of Paul Revere you have a misspelled word.

"there is a renued and urgent CALL for people to demand their liberty!"

Change "renued"  to renewed, please, so people won't think we're a bunch of numbskulls.

"...where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." 2 Corinthians 3:17

for making the correction of "renewed"!

Good work!
