Good morning!

(Edited because it was pointed out that Criticism is only politically correct if it comes from certain selective sources of hypocritical belligerence )

Good morning everyone and I am very honored to be allowed to join here. When I read the news about the PL shutting down and decided to follow this project I instantly felt good vibes about it. I have been wandering around the net in different forums promoting liberty like an orphan going door to door looking for a comfortable place to land. A fair and open place with members who truly care and respect one another without animosity like the original DP once was. I see other projects being started over there but I just do not feel the same good vibes as I do with this project here.

This site already feels calm in atmosphere, fair, just and comfortable. I hope that I can help draw some of the others who left the DP quite awhile back into coming and checking it out. Seriously... the graphics and features have a comfortable and relaxed feel about them. Thank you so much for the work and effort to put this together and I am hoping everyone can once again accept my hand in friendship!

I actually think Michael changed after his SIL died... there was something about her death that started making him see death all around... Ron losing was like a death, the Boston bombing was like a death... he reminisced about his father who passed away. I think he just needed to let everything go... so he moved to the other side of the country - and that's a huge change... and he's now let go of the PL.

I do find it weird that he's now posting like one possessed... latest being that he's 'sorry he sunk the ark'. No he's not, but that's ok. Let him make strange statements like that.

I appreciate what he set up and all he did, but I'm now appreciating Thimbleberry for working at warp speed to set this place up and giving us a new home to congregate.

I'm not looking for anyone to lead me... I never looked at Michael as some kind of leader of the pack, it was just his site - LOL and he made sure everyone knew it. I just want to come to a site that I can feel comfortable enough to say my piece - even if some want to challenge it. I am who I am. No labels, though. I don't want any labels.

I let go of things pretty easily, so when I read that the PL shutting down I just shrugged my shoulders. I knew I'd find a new place to go to... and here it is. No dramas. And it's nice to see so many of the same 'faces' have made their way here.

Yup, already feels like home.

that Nystrom announced he was shutting down the site not long after more than one member called him out for his "hatred" for Rand and totally dismissing what Ron Paul has written in full support of his son.  Because of this, I felt that it would only be a matter of time before Michael finally pulled the plug on PL which was a shell of what the DP was IMHO.  I say this as someone who was never a member of either site but who was drawn more and more to both although my time reading (knowing about) the DP was far less.  It seemed apparent to me (even with my limited knowledge of past history) that trolls/operatives were quite alive and well, certainly on PL.  I believe their aim was (is) only to divide and conquer... to damage the Liberty movement in general.  As much as I really liked reading PL, the site was becoming very caustic and I found myself getting somewhat depressed and so I just decided to blow past all the negativity and concentrate on those who were moving forward.  Healthy debate is essential but that was not what was going on there.  It was spirally downward ...literally tearing itself to pieces and I think that was by design.

Been around since the beginning. Was a lurker for the first 4 years and a member for the the 4 years.  Hope Michal the Best and hope at some point he joins, in time,  as someone with a new perspective. It takes time apart to find a fresh perspective. But whatever he does, he should stay anonymous if he comes here.

I have to say that I have full appreciation and respect for what he was able to accomplish over the years and credit truly is due for this. I truly feel that if he came in here he should let it be known without any reservations. I for one would be honored and would welcome discussing things on "equal terms" without the influences of those constantly paying lip service in order to gain favor. :)

I've been a member at DP/LP for 8+ years and I've seen it at it's best and at it's worst. I hope this site grows well.

Still trying to figure that out.

What happened to Michael was really simple: he became emotionally overinvested in Ron winning in 2012 (to the point that he admits he thought Ron was really going to win, even near the end). Because of that, the letdown was so great that he became massively disillusioned with politics and life in general. The lesson here is this: Don't put all your emotions in one expectation because life is out of your control.

but he alludes to some other stuff that we are not privy too. Or he just says that out of guilt.

I started at DP, I think when you could actually see what number you were that joined, I was less than 100  and had a different handle at the time.  I quit it for about 3 months because the moderators were going crazy and banning people for silly reasons and then decided to go back reincarnated as JoeinMo.  I'm not sure why Michael has a hate for Rand, but I think the Rand vs Ron thing is 100% manufactured.  Being on Ron's campaign from the beginning, I didn't see waste, we asked for brochures for door hangings and bumper stickers , we got them.  When Ron's team came to town they stayed in modest hotels, ate at modest restaurants and traveled in regular cars.  It was low budget.  So I just don't see the waste in campaign money.  I think Rand is doing the best he can with what little money he has.  But I do think the shutting down of Popular Liberty is a calculated event, timed to inflict maximum damage on the Rand campaign.  It's Michael's perogative to do that, it's his site, but I don't agree with it.  Anyhow, it's great to be here.

He doesn't like Rand. He likes Bernie. We are mostly Rand supporters. Nuff said.

enough, and I thought he was done with politics and politicians altogether.

Michael banned me back in 2009 or 2010 for being negative about Rand. Around the time he was trying to win his senate seat. I was told the objective was to help Rand get elected, and that I had no grounds to presume Rand's predilections for neoconism  etc..

I was not a member of the old soon to be ghost site of PL, but I surely read the inner politics of most of the members, I will soon share ideas about our liberties, because we need fresh plans to take our responsibilities back, like ending the fire department in cities that have folks who will douse those flames to protect his crib. All ya gotta do is put a 'pumping station' at every fire hydrant, thus the people who are the true 1st responders will save the day, Question....Will it work?

OH...by the way, all the components could be built in that same city as the 'pumping stations' would be...thus creating 1000's of J.O.B.????/

Why not just privatize the fire departments and set up a free market system where people pay an annual fee for fire protection?...sort of like another component of home insurance. It's always seemed to me a bit silly to socialize the cost and allow a monopoly to operate via local town/city governments where market forces are completely unable to dictate the going rate.

Shonn33's picture

But what about the people who don't pay for a fire service 'who' eats that cost??? plus my suggestion will benefit the community by neighbors helping each other through random acts of kindness & heroics... one more idea to add.. the 'pumping stations' would signal other locations within a neighborhood bringing help much...much faster than a big loud azz red truck mucking up traffic.

You are right about needing professionals for tall building, remote locations, and multiple house fires, also you will still need govt. to investigate fires, but they would be weaponless,

I came across Ron Paul in 2008. At the time I was a radical leftist. I was anti war, and I supported collectivism. Ron woke me up. I really got interested in his philosophy in 2011. I used to read DP every day. By the time I wanted to join, it was closed to members. I joined PL as soon as it opened. I visit several times a day. I have written several posts about why I think supporting Rand will help our quest towards reclaiming individual Liberty and self government. I usually get scorned for doing so. I think what MN did for this movement was great, but does anyone know what exactly why he hates so much about Rand?  Anyway, it's good to be here  thanks Thimbleberry for creating this site
