Good morning!

(Edited because it was pointed out that Criticism is only politically correct if it comes from certain selective sources of hypocritical belligerence )

Good morning everyone and I am very honored to be allowed to join here. When I read the news about the PL shutting down and decided to follow this project I instantly felt good vibes about it. I have been wandering around the net in different forums promoting liberty like an orphan going door to door looking for a comfortable place to land. A fair and open place with members who truly care and respect one another without animosity like the original DP once was. I see other projects being started over there but I just do not feel the same good vibes as I do with this project here.

This site already feels calm in atmosphere, fair, just and comfortable. I hope that I can help draw some of the others who left the DP quite awhile back into coming and checking it out. Seriously... the graphics and features have a comfortable and relaxed feel about them. Thank you so much for the work and effort to put this together and I am hoping everyone can once again accept my hand in friendship!

So hard to get a read off someone based on comments. I didn't have any personal interaction with him, and couldn't feel him out, and others there, to see where they were coming from.  I was 19 or so back in 2008, had a friend show me this site. And that when it started. It was about 6 months after the 2008 election where things started to click, it was my 1st semester with 20 credits.  So i lurked for about 3 and a half to 4 years made an account, was very shy, then started becoming more active about two years ago.

I've always been a person that spoke my mind.  I do my best to not shy away from what I truly believe.  My last post at PL was one requesting that Jon contact Ben Swann, or the like, in order to save some of his hard work from expired internet oblivion.  Apparently, that pissed Michael off.  He immediately, in an emotional fashion, terminated my account and talked trash - after removing my ability to respond, of course.  While I do my best not to knowingly hold grudges, I believe in once bit twice shy.  I don't plan on associating in any way with Nystrom in the future.  I'm sure he understands.

The Gold was gone once the DP switched to PL.  May it rest in peace.

He still has no clue...  I remember when he said he was a democrat before his Ron Paul moment.

That tricked me off too when I saw that. Uncalled for .

I called him out for not being "nice" and got the ban hammer.  Why would he ban someone like you who believes in freedom and makes a great case for it every time?   Makes me wonder.  Oh well life goes on.

Especially on the final statement.  Was a follower of DP for years after Ron woke me up in 2008 and finally got a chance to jump on the ark when PL was fired up.  Fittingly I guess, I was thrown out by MN over the last week or so after I challenged his grumpy attitude and mysterious overlord approach to managing a website whose primary audience was liberty minded people....ummmm

Oh well. Water under the bridge and moving on.

This website looks sweet, feels very much like home, and I'm excited to see where it leads!

Cheers to all :-)

I heard you were banned, seemed strange at the time, seeing it was shutting down Anyways.

I have never had a problem with anything you said, knew you were an upstanding person, and have a great character.

Mn told another there, that he had inside info on what happened (as to why RP dropped out,why Rand endorsed Romney)or something to that affect, and if they(the person) he was talking to stuck around long enough,he would know the reason as well.He didn't elaborate on that, which,to me means he took an educated guess, thought he was right, and ran with it,as if was the truth, the total truth, and nothing was going to change his mind.. something happened to him,and he is running from it.something has him angry. The Boston bombing might be a part of it,but I don't know that is fact, but he is running away,He could have not come back to his own site, and just left it run by itself, with the help of Jon,and a few chosen mods of course, but he chose to shuttle a brand new site, and I suspect it is out of spite over something very personal.I wish the man the best, but he has changed, and not for the better.

Anyways, happy you are here, glad we can still chat.

 In liberty my friend

Deacon. I just made a similar comment above. I would hope that if you're my friend & you have some knowledge or inside info that would spare me that much pain that has obviously morphed into hate - from simply trusting & supporting someone - that you would be so kind as to warn a fellow brother in liberty.

but the seeds we once sheathed have already fallen on fertile ground.

I tip my glass to the future.

Nice to be here. Glad to see familiar faces.

When I saw a post or comment on the PL by dwalters, I'd go straight to it before all others. You were one of the most consistent anti-statists on PL, and being banned for making a verbal analogy to a "death" is totally outrageous.

But I would take the "miss me the least" as a badge of honor.  I got banned at PL at the end (after 4 1/2 years of being a "good faith" member) as well.  I'm very grateful to Nystrom for what he built but I can't help but feel like he, to some degree, betrayed the liberty movement by shutting down the site, plus on SUCH short notice.  I fully understand it was his site and he had every right to do what he wanted to with it.  However, it's hard to understand how anyone who truly cares about liberty would shut down such a popular site.  To me the site grew to be bigger than any one person.  I feel like if he truly cared about liberty that he would've done whatever was necessary to maintain the momentum he built up.  I got a lot of crap for criticizing him (at least from certain users) but I don't think anyone is above criticism - not even Ron Paul.  I'd much rather this movement have no "sacred cow".  Again, that's not to say Nystrom didn't create a great site.  He did.  But I think we need to acknowledge that while he did plenty of good (way more good than bad) that he also did some bad as well.

I agree with your sentiments .  I wish him well, and after some time, with a bright and new perspective, he joins us.

When the prize is one's soul, the highest bidder may not be the best buyer.

Speculation on my part there.

I wish MN the best - but without me.

Republican convention in Minnesota.  He was a RP delegate and he was so disillusioned with the corruption and cheating; after that that was when I first noticed a big change.  He hung in for the 2012 campaign but after that he started talking about leaving and ending the Daily Paul.  We may not ever know exactly what happened to cause such a distancing and bitterness from the movement he had been such an integral and important part of, but I'm glad we can now operate as freely as before.

Liberty brings people together - Ron Paul

Some here may not remember or weren't around, but I was personally offended when he started fading Dr. Paul's picture from the site. IMHO, it was an underhanded and dishonest move. It was like spitting in Ron's face if you ask me. Why not be honest about it? He only "restored" it after being called out on it. He even told a member that it was "a business, I'm a webmaster, that's what I do". I also found that revolting and disrespectful when he posted that. Seemed more about being opportunistic than about a liberty movement - but whatever. Then he stated that "PAUL" stood for "Peace Gold Love" - that is at least until he blew that place up and started Popular Liberty for "technical reasons" (more like the PAUL association if you ask me).

As I've stated before, I'm also grateful to Michael for having built that site, but it grew into something much more alive thanks to its members contributions, which frankly doesn't seem acknowledged. I hope this place can grow, take a life of its own, and become the "home" that DP once was as well.

United we Stand, Divided we Fall.

name change removing his name from the site that bore it proudly and was so well known and so instrumental in the whole RP/Liberty Movement.  It never was the same after that, so now I am so glad it's getting revived!

I too, felt a little disgruntled by Michael throwing in the towel on such short notice. You would have thought that he could have held on at least through the Iowa Caucuses. Honestly DP was becoming the best source on the Internet for political news.

 - I get that. I just wish he was honest about it. I mean he's over there talking about how we're "his people", yet he's been curt and unnecessarily rude to some of the nicest members for asking a simple question. If we're his people, why treat us with disrespect when asking a question or making a comment? Is that Peace & Love? Or is it simple bias against Rand supporters?

Then he goes on a rant about how Rand can never be trusted & he won't get into it because it's personal. Again, sounds like a cop out, and I'll tell you why. If someone hurts me THAT BAD after putting all my trust and support behind someone, - I mean SO BAD that I turn a grudge into hate for over 2 years - well then guess what? I WOULD warn my friends. Trust me that if you're my friend, or "my people", I WILL warn you that you're about to drive off a cliff and try to spare you the damage that I am presently carrying with me to this day.

He kicked Dwalters out for arguing that it was a "death", yet now he's over there saying "everything dies" - so which is it?

Part of me thinks that the closing of his site - at this particular point in time of the election - was done out of pure spite and malice. I hate to think that, but that's what my gut tells me after reading his posts, and specifically the ones directed at certain members.

On the bright side, at least it will be PEACEful again.

Again, it's good to "see" you.

I assume he is well beyond the age when most people who are going to, develop schizophrenia or other psychotic illnesses (typically late adolescence or early adulthood). His behavior as of late almost seems like some sort of psychosis has engulfed his mind.

Funny he would be ticked of by pro-Rand boosterism, but completely ignore the obnoxious and anti-liberty pro-Trump boosterism coming from a few members.

Hey, could you tell me, is there any way on this site to see my posts, comments, and replies?

Thanks.
