I noticed the Popular Liberty site is not working - it's probably all over with which will be a shame because I didn't archive my postings which I wanted to do..

So greetings to any other Paulites from way back in DailyPaul days.

We lost a lot of good members when it switched to Popular Liberty and now many more will wash out.

But I applaud this site for what looks like a friendly and intuitive forum with good liberty stories and postings.

And maybe more than a few ex-DailyPaulers.

This may become my new home for liberty postings and forums.

The whole site is down for everyone, not just me.  I wonder if that's it.

but the site had grown very indifferent and at-times hostile towards the Rand-supporting-faithful. Oh well, Michael created an anomaly only to relegate it to what I feel was an early retirement.

and made the shift to Popular Liberty (where I was banned 11/12/15) for reasons unexplained (even after repeated attempts to contact the moderators for explanation).

I come here to support Rand Paul as I did his father, down to the final write-in campaign of 2012. I have spent a brief period of time over at RedState.com and prefer an atmosphere that acknowledges Rand for his commitment to the Constitution and Liberty over one that will not tolerate 'Ron-pimping', i.e. Rand-pimping...whatever that means.

Either way, we have our own purpose here.

I hadn't seen you in a while Pen.  I always enjoyed your posts.  Yesterday I replied to a well written post by JS Bach, by saying something like, "Alas it is no use, MN has gotten bitter and absolutely hates Rand.  He would rather shut this place down then to allow us to use it support another Paul presidential run.

I agree, everyone has been kissing MN's butt lately. Most people seem to worship the guy, but mostly to me he comes off as condescending.  I was going to mention that in my last comment, but I am not one to try to piss off the whole entire group at once.  Anyway, good to see you here Pen.  RAND PAUL 2016! There I said it.  Felt good.

However I got booted from PL immediately after questioning MN's motive for sinking the ark when so many viable options were available.

As an efficient liberty minded communication platform, occupied by intelligent and committed patriots  news source it was second to none. It was such a tragic loss of a vast library of historical, liberty minded informational content, insight and debate.

IMO, to destroy it was a selfish and spiteful act, executed without explanation beyond the weak  " I want a change" excuse.

I hope this site will attract the same level of intelligence, commitment and dedicated patriots.

I was 4 1/2 years and got booted for no good reason.  And even though I'm grateful to him for all the years of good work he did, I agree that shutting down DP/PL was a selfish/spiteful act on Michael's part.  I know we're supposed to treat him as a saint but I think we need to say what needs to be said.  Again, there are a ton of positives to what he contributed to the liberty movement but that doesn't mean we can't or shouldn't cite his negatives as well.

Even his "I'm sorry I sunk the Ark.  Please forgive me.  It was the only way to make you guys swim" excuse was ridiculous.  He barely gave the movement any time to recover (~3 weeks??).

Plus look at what has been going on since.  People are scrambling to build what had ALREADY EXISTED.  To me this is an obvious case of setting the whole movement backward.  There is no room for "sacred cows" within this movement.  Liberty has ZERO time to waste.

speak up in the face of illogic. I totally appreciate what he created, and who he attracted over the years, but to watch the surreal ass kissing frenzy while people scramble to recreate what already existed is a huge waste of time an energy.

That said thank you to the creator of this site for stepping up, and taking the bull by the horns to recreate a platform for patriots to communicate amongst ourselves.

"surreal ass kissing frenzy" is exactly what has been going on.  Honestly I think it's crap.

I like what this user posted in response to Michael's (highly melodramatic) post "I'm sorry I sunk the ark".

Otherwise embrace what you are GOING to do and admit the truth: you aren't sorry...or you are
less sorry than you'd be if you kept it going or sold/gave it to someone else. I think we've all had to make decisions where we were of mixed feelings. It is in dealing with our inner conflicts that we really see what it is to be us.

I think a lot of us wish you could have tried to find a way to turn the site (esp the Daily Paul) over to someone else and stepped out of it. You didn't try. I think that is pretty evident. The question is why not?

All that said, Michael, thanks for the years of keeping the site up. It must have been a big burden on your life energy at times. I ran a site many years ago and so I think I can maybe relate. In my case there was nothing of value to sell and no real offers by anyone else to take it over. So I eventually just decided I had to move on with my life regardless.

Good luck to you!

I don't know how the OP wants us to answer this question if people are in the same situation (started at DP and then, when it closed down, moved to PL).  I was upset when DP shut down but figured we'd at least have PL for a long time.  Unfortunately Michael had other ideas.

.

JayEm's picture

I hear your dilema, I come from PL, but originally from DP. But since DP is no longer running and I believe most DP members i'm sure are all PL members, I believe that the OP the gave these two options, meaning that if you voted DP, means you originated from DP, and PL means your were never on DP, This was an assumption, and voted based on that assumption.

It's better to look dumb and not be, than to look smart and not be.

However, the DP was where I learned to think.  I first came across Ron during a debate in 07.  I was already antiwar and anti establishment, but I was a collectivist, anti capitalist.  Ron made me question my beliefs.  He made me realize that these beliefs were not my true nature. By 2011, I was ready to be further re educated. Then I stumbled upon the DP.  I read it often and learned so much.  By the time I was ready to join, it was closed to new members.  I joined PL as soon as the switch was made.  It was good, but I could tell real quick that supporting Rand would not be tolerated.  I feel like I missed the boat on the original ark.  But this new ship has set sail and its bound for the liberty coast.

...the answer really is both.

HOWEVER -- it seems like MN (or an aggressive mod) turned off my PL account (axisOFgood) shortly after I commented that MacInsane ought to "be eliminated." Mind you, I did not THREATEN to do so, merely opinionated "ought to."

That sucks but unfortunately he probably didn't have a choice for a couple reasons. It doesn't matter what you intended to imply, the law upholds what McCain thinks it means, and you can bet he would have taken it as a threat. There is a very short list of violations that are not accepted at all by the Feds. And they will shut you website down in a heartbeat if you don't deal with it right away in house. I pissed McCain off so bad that he had his DOD Military Cronies brute force attack my domain for a few days in a row. For Michael it was not worth the fight to defend you against the PTB and risk everything.

The list is small but it is very very serious. :)

All of you guys were so nice.  I did it free.  I did write in Ron Paul for my vote and took video on how that works.   Here's the original video and I again say I loved the support that year.  If I had any more I'd still be putting them up, haha.

from the DP who mailed me several RP bumpers stickers, a couple other things and most specially, included a Ron Paul rEVOLution rubber wrist band. It was so special to me, I gave it to my daughter. Passed the torch, if you will.

I got some of those from you! Simple but very effective because the bright florescent Green grabbed the eye! It is good to be able to let you know how effective they really turned out to be! I still have a few I kept as keepsakes. lol

Thanks again!
