Denver Police Destroy Tiny Homes Built for the Homeless, then Throw Away Homeless Tents in Middle of Snowstorm

The Denver Police Department arrested 10 people and destroyed tiny homes that were under construction for the homeless at Sustainability Park in late October, and now they have destroyed a tent city setup to shelter the homeless in a recent Snowstorm.  Officers threatened those camped in tents with arrest and imprisonment for up to a year if they did not comply and ordered them to throw all of their survival gear in a dumpster or suffer the consequences.

The irony is that this land has been owned by the Denver Housing Authority as a local agent of HUD (US Department of Housing and Urban Development) and left vacant over 40 years even though ostensibly the purpose of the quasi-municipal federal bureaucracy is to provide housing for the poor.

Apparently instead it has been decided that they will be building $200K condos on the DHA/HUD owned land and until the construction starts the rabble rousers trying to build affordable homes for the destitute are to be rounded up and arrested while anyone setting up tents there to survive the winter will have all of their personal belongings summarily thrown away by the local police according to the edicts of whoever claims to be in charge of this awful mess.

amazes me how it's liberal run cities who are the harshest against the homeless people, but continue to get elected by saying they are going to help them?

Colorado Springs? Seems to me that Colorado has a major issue with dealing with their homeless population. Where are the activists on this issue. I mean every time I turn around the people of Colorado are harrassing poor people. What about all that surplus they are sitting on for all those pot sales. Corrupt to the core and shameful.

Yeah that goes to padding the State congress tendency to overspend on BS useless shit like housing immigrants and paying them welfare, of course...  Much more important than taking care of those already here.

they want people to live in sustainable agenda 21 micro units, so long as they can charge us the same amount as what we pay now for regular sized accommodations. The whole sustainable development scheme is not to provide affordable housing to the homeless, it is to take the current working population and rent them out glorified closets for the same price. This will just lower every ones standard of living and create more homeless people by pricing them out of the market.  I call it Agenda Twenty None

(at least the Grinch changed,  As did Scrooge) I hate to compare  the Denver police to North Korean police or the SS but if the shoes fit...

This should serve to instruct those who believe the giving resources to the State is an efficient or effective way to alleviate poverty. Unfortunately I can already hear the calls for more funding of this bureaucratic bologne.
