Did Michael just pull the plug at PL?

I was in the middle of typing a comment to someone and boom, out went the lights.

We are the remnant who have hung on thru all the changes.

It's a shame though that every time this happens we lose a lot of good Paul people maybe never to see them again.

Glad to see some familiarity here.

I'm happy to see familiar names here too. Makes me feel more at home.

I was lucky to see this site literally an hour before PL went down.

Me too, lucky that I remembered the website name.  I forgot the names of the others.

Just to toss out discussion. Wouldn't it be ironic if the PL is being overhauled to become another site?

I was wondering about that as well.  Posted a discussion at PL asking what everyone thinks will come next for the PL and DP websites.  My guess was that they would be frozen in time for a while.  Eventually, though, I wouldn't be surprised to see a new blog pop up with both sites promoting the new one.  Except the blog would be for posting articles, with commenting for us turned off.

In an effort to learn more, I found this post below.  Is there any merit to these allegations?

I personally witnessed no other subject matter that destroyed so rapidly any sense of civility at the DP. The big picture revealed Michael's tolerance far more than his intolerance.

I think you are right.  He did exhibit a great deal of tolerance.

He wanted to close down and move on... end of the year seems like a good time to do that.  The technical problems of the site might force shutting down 1 week early, but does seem just to be a coincidence to me.

I don't get the impression that he is overly or particularly concerned about his reputation, but to the extent that he may be, it is not a stretch for me to think he surmised that letting PL go on and on would actually be the case to harm his reputation going forward.

How and by whom?

I also find it odd that the site went down shortly after a member posted a program allowing users to archive any member's posts and comments.  Fortunately, I was able to capture mine before the plug was pulled.

"How and by whom?"

Considering that only Michael can ultimately judge what might be considered harm to his reputation, just as only you can ultimately judge what might be considered harm to yours and I as such to mine, it is folly for me to speculate on 'how and why' in Michael's case. My point was an extrapolation from my assumptive notion that Michael's decision-making process is geared toward making a better life for Michael. However seemingly frustrating his decisions have been to me at any given time, he remains steadfastly reputable to me as role model, starkly reminding me to gear my decisions toward a better life for me. I have found myself oddly deceived at times thinking that others have benefited from my decisions when I have not. In other words, in those situations I've inevitably come to doubt how much benefit was actually provided to others. All evidence extends from self-evidence.

"I also find it odd that the site went down shortly after a member posted a program allowing users to archive any member's posts and comments."

Personally, I find less oddity in effect when I am provided reasonable cause.

"Fortunately, I was able to capture mine before the plug was pulled."

You're an admirable leader of sorts in that regard, as I have not yet done so.

Are we banned? Or is this an issue with the site?
