I was going to wait until I had more codified suggestions before I gave my unsolicited opinion to the site owner, but since there's already a thread, I'll start with some of my thoughts on the current banner:

1. There is no need to repeat "A Call to Paul" twice.
2. The font used for the topmost "A Call to Paul" is too generic. It's good that it's simple, but something with a bit more personality (e.g. Trebuche or Eras) would be even better.
3. Both the font used for the circle P logo and the one for the "A Call to Paul" underneath it are too delicate. Something a little stronger and less wispy would make more sense to me.
4. I can see white around the aforementioned logo and text where the anti-aliasing is. They need to be made for the banner itself or an alpha channel instead of a white background.
5. I can clearly see where the banner was edited in places like where the tree was spliced to the rest or where it appears some text was removed.
6. The liberty tree looks like it's withering. Try a summer/spring tree instead of winter/fall.
7. I can't read the tagline text where it's over the tree.
8. Mrs. Reb suggested that the tagline would read better as "A Community of Liberty-Minded People," and I agree.

They can cut out 1 of the Call to Paul's and change the font. And yes, the tag-line needs to be moved - I think to under the name of the site. I like Mrs Reb's suggestion, but by designating it a 'community' outright feels kinda like that community is set in their ways which may be daunting for newcomers. I remember lurking at the DP for awhile trying to figure out how I'd fit in. The voices were so strong and intense... hehe but I've been called out for being opinionated.

I like the 'convergence' idea - keeps it an open tent. This site doesn't proclaim to be 'libertarian' - thank God - and Liberty doesn't need any hyphenation like what Americans tend to do now... (pick your European/Skandi country)-American, Mexican/pick your So American country-American, African (because they don't know from which area they originate)-American garbage.

And I still like the pic. I wrote my thoughts on it in another thread but when I thought about it this morning I had the Winter Solstice in mind - the return of the light! We tend to think of winter as bleak and dismal, but it's not. Winter is the time of introspection, life slows down enough so you can get a good look at it. Isn't that what people need to do? Stop watching the Kardasians or Dancing or the rapid play of life... become still and see what's really going on? That's the purpose of this blog, no? To expound on the fact that the political/government theater is just that - Kabuki, that it's all fake and we need to discuss/figure out how to restore its true function of promoting and protecting Liberty?

Winter also represent old age and with age (is supposed to) comes wisdom... and despite how it's ignored and how much they want to destroy it, America is still the only country working (around hehe) its original Constitution of almost 230 years. That in itself is pretty amazing. It's our job to hold those politcos' feet to the fire and get them back on track. Why so many of us dread a ConCon cuz we know how much we will get conned.

Well, just a couple of cents/sense/scents thrown out there.

The same red in the logo would be easier on the eyes

I would suggest different font colors in the banner though. My eyes can hardly see what's there

I found a new beer last night -- Oculto -- and that probably was why forget peace. My bad.

I've never had Oculto, but I'm always in for a new beer. What did you think of it?

agava sugar infused beer that was stored in old Tequilla Casks. So it has a very slight touch of that tastes. Its a light beer an it has a different tang to it.  Really cool bottle.  With all beer it grows on you over time.
